Free Practice Mode — Play at Your Own Pace
Practice mode is your personal training ground. Unlike the daily challenge, where every player solves the same puzzle against the clock, Practice lets you generate unlimited fresh boards on demand. Choose any grid size from 4×4 to 12×12, select one of four difficulty levels, and solve as many puzzles as you like — there are no streaks to break and no leaderboard pressure.
This is the best place to sharpen specific skills. Working on your speed? Run through a dozen 6×6 boards on Easy. Want to build confidence with larger grids? Try a few 9×9 puzzles on Medium before committing to the daily 9×9 challenge. Practice games still earn XP and count toward most achievements, so every solve contributes to your overall progress.

Practice Mode FAQ
What's the difference between Practice and Daily mode?
In Practice mode, you can generate unlimited puzzles at any time with your choice of grid size and difficulty. Practice games don't appear on the daily leaderboard and don't affect your streak. Daily mode gives everyone the same puzzle, refreshed at midnight UTC, with full leaderboard and streak tracking.
Which grid size should I start with?
We recommend starting with the 4×4 or 5×5. These smaller grids teach you the fundamental rules and shape types without overwhelming you. Once you can consistently earn 3 stars, move up to the 6×6 Classic — the size closest to the original LinkedIn Patches format.
Can I change the difficulty level?
You can select your difficulty — Easy, Medium, Hard, or Expert — before starting a new puzzle. Higher difficulties use more complex shape constraints and larger rectangles. Easy mode is great for learning; Expert mode challenges even seasoned solvers.
Does Practice mode count toward achievements?
Yes! Solving puzzles in Practice mode earns you XP and counts toward most achievements. The only exceptions are streak-related badges, which require solving the specific daily challenge on consecutive days.
